The biggest digital rights agency in the independent sector makes MixBANK available to all of its members.
Dubset made some big waves within the industry last week, with the announcement of our strategic partnership with Merlin – the largest digital rights agency within the independent label sector. This signing brings the MixBANK platform to all of Merlin’s 800 members, which represent tens of thousands of labels across 53 countries. It doubles the catalog available to DJs and producers through the MixBANK platform to over 36 million tracks and pushes the number of labels and publishers represented on the platform to more than 40,000.
“Mix culture has always accounted for a significant portion of online consumption, and Merlin’s membership represents a wide range of artists at the core of this culture,” points out Charles Caldas, Merlin CEO. “Merlin’s partnership with Dubset is important as it will unlock new revenues for our global membership, and ensure they can realize even greater value from their repertoire – wherever and however it is used online.”
Being occasionally referred to as the music industry’s “fourth major,” Merlin – representing approximately 12% of the total global market share of recorded music – has reeled in a big opportunity for its members by joining Sony as another “major” partner to recognize and begin utilizing the power of the MixBANK platform.
Merlin continues to make good on their mission of “enhancing the value of their member’s rights in deals that cannot be easily negotiated locally or individually, or are not covered adequately by existing arrangements.” They accomplish this by seeking out the brightest opportunities and negotiating on a non-exclusive, member discretionary basis, the most beneficial deals to make available for their members – as they’ve exemplified with their new partnership with us here at Dubset.
We’d like to thank Charles Caldas and the Merlin team for joining us on our mission to provide innovative rights management, rightful catalog monetization, and enhanced artist protection within music.
